Replacement Filter Cartridge- Helps Maintain Your Water Filter
August 5th, 2009 | by Zachus J Winestone |People who are into their health will certainly be pleased with the benefits of filtering their water. However, there is much to do besides merely hooking up the filter. One must also be sure to replace the filter cartridge at appropriate intervals as per the manufacturer’s recommendations. The filter removes contaminants from your water, but this process can clog the filter with the dirt that has been removed. A clogged filter does not work as efficiently as it should. This is precisely why one must change the filter replacement cartridge as needed. This will keep your drinking water clean and contaminant free.
Filters are great for use at home because, depending on the water usage, you can install them in a variety of places. The most common of which is the kitchen faucet. This is where it’s most crucial to have a water filtration system. There are two primary types which will achieve this.
The original filter mounts directly to the tap. This is the least invasive, and most economic, option. The filter unit is kept at easy access; making replacement easy. Tap mounted systems screw directly into the end of the faucet. Simply swivel the unit, or push a button to switch between filtered/non filtered water.
The only time you really need to use filtered water is when you want to actually drinking it, like a glass of water or boiling a pot of coffee. If you are cooking with water, doing the dishes, or simply washing your hands, unfiltered tap water is just fine to use. By limiting how much filtered water you actually use, you will decrease the amount of filter replacement cartridges you will have to purchase, thus saving you money.
A second choice for a kitchen sink water filtration system is an under the sink mounted system. This style of filter is larger and filters all the water that passes through it. It mounts out of the way under the sink so that you do not have to see it which makes it more aesthetically pleasing if that is important to you. This system and the filter replacement cartridge that goes with it are more expensive, but they also last longer so it is a good investment.
Usually the under sink mounted filtration system will be plumbed to a separate tap that can be mounted to the back of the sink. This can be a simple attractive stainless steel tube style faucet made for filling drinking glasses that will not be in the way when you are using the sink for washing dishes.
A different spot that also works well for installing a filtration system is your refrigerator. You are defeating the purpose of using filtered water if you just put unfiltered ice cubes from the ice maker into your water. Using an inline filter will fix this sort of situation. You will need to remember that this will also have a filter replacement cartridge needing service also.
